Voyage Financial Partners

Committed to those who’ve lost a spouse

You are more than your money

Our client philosophy is based on relationships, not on the assets you have. Each relationship is approached with these beliefs:

  • You are an individual with a story. We want to get to know you.
  • We will listen and seek to understand what matters most to you. Then Tim will work with you to design a plan customized to fit your needs, challenges, and goals.
  • Our team will continue to partner with you as life unfolds and needs evolve.

You have unique needs on your journey, and you will move through at your own pace. We approach your situation based on where you are:

1. In the storm. Recently widowed.

This is a time when emotions are intense and needs can be urgent. Questions and concerns over money might seem like massive waves threatening to topple you. Many widows have found that delaying more permanent decisions for 6-12 months is beneficial in the long term. No matter how urgent things seem, it’s okay to allow yourself time to grieve.

We can help you:

  • File for death benefit and Social Security benefit claims
  • Navigate the many phone calls and documents required for those claims
  • Establish a temporary spending plan based on your immediate needs
  • Manage the financial aspects of your husband’s estate with your legal team
  • Meet frequently with you as needs arise
  • Begin making necessary adjustments to your insurance, accounts, car title, etc.
  • Prioritize your next steps

Organizing your finances can help you gain a better sense of control. If you would like, please use any of the complimentary resources here to begin.

2. Just past the storm. A year or more after his passing.

When you’re ready, Tim can help you start planning for what’s ahead. He will work with you to develop a comprehensive financial plan. Then he will monitor and update as needed. Tim will help you answer questions like:

  • Is my money doing what I want it to do?
  • Are my financial resources in the proper place?
  • Should I sell my current home, vehicle(s), etc.?
  • What changes to my estate need to be made?
  • Do my investments still align with what is most important to me?
  • Will the people I love receive my money in the fastest, easiest way after I’m gone?

3. New horizons. A number of years later.

Different seas are ahead, offering the opportunity to set sail on a new course. Tim will come alongside you and:

  • Regularly review your financial plan
  • Make any necessary adjustments
  • Consult with you to determine if your money is aligning with what you value most in life
  • Help you consider the tax implications of your investments, giving, charitable contributions, estate, and more
