Voyage Financial Partners

Committed to those who’ve lost a spouse

Voyage Financial Partners may be able to help you prepare for what lies ahead

Over the years, we have found widows are not the only ones that want someone to listen to them, to help plan their financial future, and help manage their money. Although we work mainly with widows, we do—on occasion—welcome other clients if we believe we can bring value to their lives.

If, after talking with us, it becomes clear that Voyage Financial Partners is not a good fit for you, we will gladly recommend alternative financial professionals to you.

Life has many stages

If you handle the finances, you can give your spouse greater confidence by taking just a few steps. These will go a long way to reducing the overwhelming impact of financial unknowns when a spouse dies:

  • Confirm the beneficiaries on all insurance policies are updated.
  • Have an annual discussion with your financial advisor.
  • Make a binder for all important financial information including titles, deeds, insurance policies, list of accounts, automatic withdrawals, bill due dates, etc. Keep it in a safe place and be sure your spouse knows where it is and can access it.
  • Keep all passwords in one place. If on paper, keep in the financial binder (above). If you prefer to keep them digitally, there are many apps available for computers and smart phones (NordPass, 1Password, Keeper, LastPass, Dashlane, and RememBear, to name a few).
  • Once a year, sit down with your spouse and your favorite beverage, and go over any updates or changes in your finances.
